Coding (Levels 1, 2, 3)
|
We know that many of the jobs of the future would require expertise in computer science. Over the past decade, programmers, software developers and computer enthusiasts have developed many tools and platforms to teach coding and programming to children of various ages. Wow Science holds licenses and subscriptions to some of the best tools and platforms available. We will be partnering with these third parties to deliver highly engaging hands-on lessons and projects to campers. Students who already have coding experience or training will be able to start at a level that is reflective of their expertise and ability. Wow Science supports this theme with fifty MacBook Air laptops. | June 25 – July 6

Robotics: Robots, Bots, LEGO®
Story Teller, Simple Machine, and Mindstorms® |
Our robotics theme provides the ultimate mechanized, and in some cases, computerized, hands-on activities that are fun, engaging and educational. In addition to building various types of age-appropriate robots and single-function machines that we call bots, main and teen campers will build and program robots with LEGO® bricks and software. Junior campers will use LEGO® Story Teller to bring their learning experience to life. Robotics incorporates many principles in math and physical science and teach children programming skills.

Makerspace | Our campers will have an opportunity to put their imagination to use in this theme. Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build, and invent, and we have assembled projects that range from high tech smart devices to recycled household products. Campers will be challenged to build rovers, clocks, solar vehicles, boats, fans, bridges, and more! One of the key differences between a Makerspace and a regular project based camp is that in a Makerspace, campers decide what they want to create with their supplies. Our staff will be there to provide guidance but we look forward to a variety of outputs. Our SCIENCE and TECH camps will be combined for this exciting theme. | Aug 6 – Aug 17
