Wow! Science Camp offers up to eight exciting field trips, one trip each week, every season. We visit regional attractions—museums, science centers, factories, historical sites, conservatories, etc. All of our destinations are connected to science. For instance, we learned about many kinds of insects in our 2010 visit to Insectropolis, a learning center with hundreds of live insects and arthropods. In addition to fun, memorable experiences, campers learn about each of the locations we visit.
Important information about 2016 field trips:
The cost for each field trip for registered campers is $30. The field trip fee is not included in the camp fee and is due at the time of registration. Siblings and parents of registered campers are permitted on field trips. The cost for each additional family member to attend is $50. Field trip fees cover transportation, admission, T-shirt, and in some cases guided tours.
All campers who attend camp on field trip days are expected to attend the trips. There are no counselors left at the camp location during field trips. Counselors and assistant counselors serve as chaperones on field trips.
Families seeking to join a registered camper on a field trip must advise us no later than two weeks before the desired trip. This allows us to make adequate arrangements for transportation. Half Day campers must plan to arrive early (usually by 9:00 AM) and depart late (usually by 4:00 PM) on field trip days.
