In addition to having a STEM background, Wow! Science workers have an interest in enabling young learners to embrace science. They are individuals who enjoy a hands-on approach to learning. The three most important roles in our program are the Camp Director, Counselor and Assistant Counselor. Our Counselors provide guidance to campers during daily camp activities. The Assistants support Counselors in managing their groups. Camp Directors are responsible for making sure each locations runs smoothly.
Our program is headed by Executive Director Fola Adebi. Mrs. Adebi is also the founder of Wow! Science Camp®. A seasoned scientist and educator, Mrs. Adebi holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the State University of New York at Old Westbury and a master’s degree in technology management from Stevens Institute of Technology. Fola worked as a chemist with a major pharmaceutical company. Her scientific efforts are reflected in the many patents on which she is listed as a co-inventor with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In 2002, she decided to pursue her true passion: teaching, mentoring, and guiding children and young adults toward realizing their potential. In the past ten years, she has taught and mentored students from grade school to college level.
